Hi again folks, here are some photos from a class we had in the shop learning to make ruched roses from ribbons. The ladies produced some lovely roses using different weights of ribbons.

The photos below are from a social evening I hosted at Islesburgh Community Centre. Two ladies from the "Shetland to Romania Project" gave an illuminating talk about their trip and highlighted some of the problems the orphans face and what a change their trip had made to the lives of these amazing children. It was quite moving.

There
was also a quiz and a raffle.
Tony our Quiz
Master above is smiling because he knew all the answers!!!

Ladies from the winning team. Check out those smiles!!!

I was really disappointed we ran out of time for the "show and tell" as the ladies had brought some truly wonderful projects for us to see.
I thoroughly enjoyed the evening and I hope the ladies who came did too.

This is me relaxing with a cuppa at home afterwards.

God's Creation Banner

Hi everyone
that autumnal feeling is creeping over our islands here so it's definitely time to be going through your stash of fabric or wool and getting on with some projects.
I'm delighted to share with you this photo of a banner made by my mam and the other ladies of the Dalehead Banner group, Rosedale, North Yorkshire.

The banner was made using fabrics from Nimble Fingers. I think you'll agree that it's a lovely colourful picture of creation.
Didn't they do well!!!

Remember there is always new stock coming into the shop. Come along and stroke some fabric, feel some wool, run some ribbon through your fingers. Or just come in for a YARN!!!! Couldn't resist that one!!

Until next time
Keep those fingers nimble!

Love Polly xx

Daryl's Model Gallery!!

Hi folks, how's your summer going? I do hope you're managing to fit in some craft time as well as all the other things you may have planned over the summer months.
I'd like to show you the work of one of my customers called Daryl. He is a model maker and recently purchased some fine crafting knives from right here at Nimble Fingers and I think you should see what he has produced using these as part of his tool kit. Here are the pics....

Daryl, it's "plane" to see you have a great talent for model making and we look forward to seeing lots more photos flying around the blog here!! Thank you so much for sharing them.

We have just taken delivery of fabrics galore.
Yes those lovely people down in Bradford
have just sent a new delivery of the most sumptuous fabric. They say:

"A Touch of Spice is our new range of designs, each of which is embellished with metallic gold. The colour of hot paprika and chilli in lighter and darker tones, sits alongside ground ginger, cumin and peppery browns. The 5 designs go from pale cream, blue and peach, through mid tones of colour and shade, to rich dark hues. A variety of images, all shimmering with metallic gold, give this range a cool exotic feeling and add depth and variety to the range, which despite its contrasts of grasses, flowers, patterns and even birds, work beautifully together."

"Butterfly Carnival is a new range of designs which we have created to celebrate the wonderful colour and vibrancy we see as the butterflies hover among the flowers. Inspired by these colours and textures we have created blues turquoise and viridian. We have created a print of butterflies dancing in the shadows, a smaller all over pattern and teamed both of these with a texture inspired by the luminous surface of their wings. These designs all mix together to celebrate the joy of colour we find all around us in the natural world and work together to make a dramatic and colourful quilt."

Both of these ranges are pretty stunning I'm sure you would all agree.
